Tiron was Combs' first role on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. He appeared as this unique alien in only one episode ("Meridian") during the third season. There is a story behind how he got this part. Years ago, Jeffrey auditioned for the role of Commander Riker on Star Trek: The Next Generation. Obviously he was not cast, but Jonathan Frakes (who did play Riker) remembered him when he directed this episode and offered him the part of Tiron.

Because of his time spent on the DS9 set, Jeff was later asked back to play both Brunt (the Ferengi liquidator) and Weyoun (the Vorta head of the Dominion in the Alpha Quadrant). He became the first actor in Star Trek history to play two reoccurring roles in one series. Way to go, Jeff!
